Hindi Samaj of Western Australia (HSWA), formerly known as Hindi Academy of Western Australia, is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1996 and registered in 1997 under the Associations Incorporation Act (1987) with the idea of promoting Hindi language, literature and Hindi culture among the members of Hindi community including any organisations with Hindi dialects as well as among other organisations who are well-wishers of Hindi.
Hindi is the fourth most common spoken language in the world. It originated from Devanagari script and finds its roots in an ancient language called Sanskrit.
Hindi is the official language of India. On 14th September 1949, it was adopted as the official language by the Constituent Assembly of India. It was this assembly that wrote the Constitution of India. The Constitution was adopted on 26 January 1950 that India commemorates as its Republic Day.
